From time to time, I like to share what’s up on our walls so that parents can get a sense of it. Here is a photo of a corner in our portable. In the photo you’ll see our tracking charts for Library Visits, Talking about the weekend, a recent KWL question chart from our visit from Major Smith (Canadian Forces), and a Reading Genre Goal poster.
HOMEWORK: Due Friday Nov 23
Broken Line Graphs (Page 21). Please do #1 and #2
PRIME MINISTER POSTERS
Our Prime Minister posters are at the research stage right now. Students must complete a fact sheet that shows their findings about the categories “personal life”, “professional life” and “accomplishments as a Prime Minister”. Then, they must draw a rough sketch of what the poster could look like. Finally, they produce the final poster while continuing research if improvements can be found.
Our original due date was Monday November 19th. I’ve since added a few days and would now like to see them complete by Thursday November 22nd.
Most of the work time on these posters has been provided in class, but students can always opt to bring them home for completion if needed.
Spelling Re-Test (Social Studies words)
Social Studies tests were handed back today. Tomorrow, a re-test will be held for the spelling portion of the test. Five out of ten or lower means a re-test is needed. The word list is on this blog under “Word Work” (pull down off the home page of the blog).
HOMEWORK: Due Friday, Nov. 9th
To prepare for our Math Test on Monday, try to work for at least 20 – 30 minutes on as much of page 6 and 7 from our workbook (or the photocopy that was handed out) as you can. Most of “Test Yourself” is multiple choice which doesn’t take as long as other math problems.
MATH TEST: chapter one
We will have a math test about patterning ideas that we covered from chapter one. It is scheduled for Monday November 12th (Day 2)
Social Studies Test tomorrow
We have a test tomorrow about government. Students should be familiar with our Social Studies words (how to spell) and with the “Types of Government” and the “Provincial Services” handouts.
HOMEWORK: Due Tues. Oct. 23
Math Sheet “Patterns in Tables” #1 and #2 only.
MATH TEST POSTPONED BY ONE DAY!!!
Our decimals test will now be on Tuesday, October 16th to make room for the School Board’s “Prime Math” test which must be done today. (all schools do the same test)
Found Objects
We will be working on creating creatures based on the William Steig book “Rotten Island”. We want to try to incorporate found objects into the work.
“Found objects” are just that…found! The object should not be from a recycling or garbage bin and it should not have an owner.
E.g’s: a leaf, a button lying on the laundry room floor, a pine cone, etc.
